The Johnson County Museum welcomes volunteers of all ages to help us provide services to the community. A wide variety of opportunities are available ranging from exhibit construction  to giving tours of the 1950s All Electric House to working with our collections. Join our corps of  volunteers, have fun, and meet new people! Visitor Services: Welcome visitors and share with them on our local history. Also assist with the Museum Store sales. If you enjoy meeting and visiting with people, this is a great opportunity for you! Volunteers needed Tuesday-Friday.
Mailing Assistants: Do you enjoy office work? We need help with mailings to our members and the community. Times vary.
1950s House Interpreters: Love the era of the 1950s? Share your passion with the public giving guided tours of our 1950s All-Electric House. Opportunities available Tuesday through Saturday, 12:30 - 4:30 pm.
Guides for School Programs: Do you enjoy working with children? This is a great opportunity to share your knowledge of our county's history through guided tours and activities. Positions available mornings Tuesday-Friday, weekend Family Fun Days,  workshops and The 1950s All-Electric House. If you enjoy working with children, this is a great opportunity for you!
Research Assistants: Interested in current events? This is the job for you! We need volunteers to work with our Assistant Curator to develop our clippings file, a much-used resource by our researchers. Duties will include clipping items from newspapers, copying and filing.
Lanesfield One-Room School Program Assistants: Do you enjoy working with children and have an interest in education? We need help on Friday mornings with our school programs for K-3 age children presenting programs about life on a farm in the early 1900s, the history Santa Fe Trail, the Battle of Bull Creek and town of Lanesfield. This is a perfect opportunity for someone living in Olathe, Gardner or Edgerton -- Lanesfield School is 4 miles west of Gardner off Highway 56. 
Collections Assistant: Do you enjoy getting into the details of historical records and enjoy mysteries? This is the job for you! Volunteers needed to assist with cataloguing historic photographs and artifacts.  A great opportunity to develop computer skills and learn about history!
Lanesfield School Receptionist: Volunteers are needed to greet visitors and staff our gift shop. Times available Tuesday - Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
