Terms of use for Johnson County Museum historic photos on

Users of any photographs on this website agree as follows:
All photographs are property of the Johnson County Museum. They may be
used for educational, scholarly, or private, personal use as long as the
following credit statement is included: “Courtesy Johnson County
Museum.” Any other use, such as commercial publication or multiple
reproductions, requires written permission from the Johnson County
Museum. Click for Use

The integrity of the original photograph must be preserved and
protected. Photographs may not be inverted and content may not be
removed or added. Minor cropping at the edges of photographs and minor
adjustments to sharpness and contrast are permissible as long as the
content is not substantially modified. Any other manipulation or
modification of photographs requires the approval of the Johnson County
Museum. An explanatory statement regarding the changes must accompany
any photograph that has been modified or manipulated within the terms of
this Use Agreement.
The Johnson County Museum is unaware of any copyright in the images in
the collection. The Johnson County Museum has provided in the catalog
records for these materials all known information regarding the
photographer or other persons associated with the materials. This
information is provided as a service to aid users in determining the
appropriate use of an item, but that determination ultimately rests with
the user. The Johnson County Museum would like to hear from anyone who
may have additional information regarding the images found in this
collection.
The persons whose images appear in the photographs comprising this
compilation have not agreed to commercial use of their names or
likenesses. Such usage may be actionable at law by these persons or
their heirs. The Johnson County Museum assumes no liability for misuse
of these photographs. As a condition of accessing the website, the user
agrees to indemnify and hold Johnson County and the Johnson County
Museum, and their officers, employees, and agents, harmless for any
misuse of the likenesses of persons appearing in the image.
The user of any photographs assumes all responsibility for compliance
with copyright and other applicable laws that may be involved in the use
of these photographs. Johnson County Museum reserves the right to refuse
any reproduction order or to deny permission for commercial use of any
photograph.
Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code)
governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of the
copyrighted materials. Under certain conditions specified in the law,
libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other
reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or
other reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private
study, scholarship or research." If a user makes a request for, or later
uses, a photocopy or other reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair
use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
