
The Museum Advisory Council provides oversight of the Johnson County Museum's operations and budget. Council members are appointed by the Johnson County Commission. Regular meetings are listed on the Museum's calendar (hyperlink) and occur between 8-9:30 a.m. at the Johnson County Museum of History, 6305 Lackman Road, Shawnee, unless otherwise noted. Special meetings may be called at the discretion of the Council Chair; such meetings will posted on the Museum's calendar as well as on the Johnson County Board of Commissioners master calendar.

The Friends of the Johnson County Museum is a non-profit membership organization committed to supporting the mission of the Museum through support of exhibits, programs, publications, and special events. The organization is governed by board of Trustees who are elected from the membership and may serve two terms of three years each.
