Adult Group Tours: The 1950s All-Electric House

Weekday mornings are available, by advanced reservation, for group tours of The 1950s All-Electric House. Make an appointment to tour the house with a costumed, 1950s tour guide! For Saturday morning tours, reservations must be made one month in advance. Reservations for Saturday morning tours cannot be made during "A Very Fifties Christmas" event. The 1950s All-Electric House Tour

Description: Go modern! Go electric! With a costumed 1950s host as a guide, visitors will experience first hand the House of the Future --- moonglow light fixtures, waist high outlets, dishwasher, and a central air conditioner. The 1950s All-Electric House offers a look at a time in Johnson County's history when the population doubled and then doubled again. Tours last 30 minutes; 10 people per tour.
Fee: $2 per person. Limited to groups of 60.
Schedule: Tuesday - Friday mornings; 10 a.m. Call (913) 715-2570 to make reservations.

The 1950s All-Electric House Video
Description: Experience the luxury and innovation of a 1954 model house with this thirty-minute video presentation. The video takes you on a house tour of Johnson County's "house of the future" - The 1950s All-Electric House. See the moon glow light fixtures, waist high outlets, appliances and design that attracted 60,000 people to the house in 1954.
Fee: $25/presentation. May be offered at your organization or at the Museum of History.
Schedule: Available year round, Tuesday - Friday.
